Colleagues from Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) and the Centre for Sport and Exercise (CSE) have been working closely to offer a pioneering cardiac screening project aimed at promoting heart health and wellbeing amongst student-athletes.
So far, 99 HKU athletes across 15 sports have completed the testing, with around 10% of athletes receiving further assessments and guidance from expert doctors. By identifying any potential cardiac issues at an early stage, these athletes have been able to receive expert guidance to promote their health and reduce the risk of any future abnormalities.
Bookings are now open once again - with screenings starting from Monday 16th September - and we are strongly recommending that all active students, particularly those who play competitive sport, register for a free screening. The screening includes electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and blood tests, all provided at no cost (typically worth over $5,000).
There are a limited number of dates, and a limited number of places available, so please use this link to book your free screening as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
