Redevelopment Project

After serving for the HKU community for more than half a century, the Flora Ho Sports Centre, the Lindsay Ride Sports Centre and the Stanley Smith Swimming Pool have been closed permanently for redevelopment by Jan 2023. As per the University’s planning, the aforesaid CSE facilities, alongside the student/staff quarters at Pokfield Road, will be redeveloped in phases to a new campus hub. In this new campus hub a new Business School Academic Building, guest house & staff quarters, and an ultramodern sports complex nearly double in size with an indoor swimming pool, gym and other facilities, has been planned for our HKU community.

As many of you are aware, the HKU campus has never stopped evolving and indeed many different sites of the University have been or are being redeveloped over the years in order to keep abreast of the ever-changing learning and teaching needs. And we are excited that it is time now for CSE to have the opportunity to provide our users with brand new and state-of-the-art sports facilities in the foreseeable future. Nonetheless, to this end, we have to go through a process that requires the rapport and cooperation from our various stakeholders. Hence, your support and understanding of the CSE’s redevelopment needs will be highly appreciated.
