Sports Team Awards Nomination NOW

In recognition of HKU athletes’ remarkable contributions and achievements in the USFHK / Inter-university* competitions and championships (referred to as “Competition” hereafter), Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE) would offer four awards to the selected Teams. The award categories and the prizes are as follows:

Award Categories Prizes

  1. Champion Award(s) HKD 10,000 / Champion Team
  2. Team of the Year Award (1 awardee) HKD 5,000
  3. Outstanding Team Award (up to 2 awardees) HKD 5,000 / awardee
  4. Most Improved Team Award (up to 2 awardees) HKD 5,000 / awardee

* With at least 6 universities participating in the competition.

A) Selection Criteria

Champion Award: This award would go to the team(s) which has/have achieved the first place in the Competition.

Team of the Year Award: This award would go to the team (men, women or combined) which 1) has achieved the championship or the highest ranking in the Competition; and 2) has demonstrated the greatest improvement in the ranking compared with previous year(s).

Outstanding Team Award: Any teams achieving a top-3 position in the competition is eligible to be nominated for this award. The winning team(s) should have demonstrated a high standard of sportsmanship, commitment (e.g. training and competition attendance) and team spirit. Please describe these values in the nomination form as appropriate.

Most Improved Team Award: Any teams achieving a top-3 position in the competition are eligible to be nominated for this award. The winning team(s) should have demonstrated the greatest improvement compared with the past year in its / their ranking and has / have also shown accountability for improvement. Please describe these values in the nomination form as appropriate.

B) Guidelines on Using the Prize Money

The awardee teams are expected to use the prize money for the following purposes only:

  1. Activities relating to local / overseas training or competitions;
  2. Purchase of sports equipment / gears such as running shoes, racquets and balls;
  3. Team development.

Deadline for the award nomination is now extended to 11 April 2023 (Tue).

The presentation of the Sports Team Awards will take place at the HKU Sports Team Superpass Gathering which will be held at Stanley Ho Sports Centre on 21 April 2023. Meanwhile, please refer to the attached documents for more details on the Awards and the nomination forms.
